Addictions UK was established by a group of recovering addicts, alcoholics and carers in 2002. Our aim and purpose is to bring recovery to others, especially by means of home-based treatment.
All our programmes are abstinence-based. Most do not require residential rehabilitation and so allow clients to continue their usual activities while finding the route to normal living.
The range of our services is very wide and does include arrangements for Residential Rehab for clients to whom we recommend it. We also offer other opportunities for recovery and growth such as learning and spiritual journeys overseas.

We think better education around addiction and how to manage it is of the utmost importance.
We offer a suite of training courses over at Addictions Training which are intended for use by practitioners and carers in addiction therapy and mental health.
The training courses are affordable, flexible and accredited by the Open College Network to levels three and four.
They’re the perfect launchpad for a career in addiction and mental health, and many of the people we have helped overcome addiction have gone on to take our courses and transition into this career path.
We also offer employers’ support services to provide guidance to HR departments when dealing with employees with addiction issues.

My name is Naomi and I am a very grateful addict in recovery. Today marks 452 days (one year two months & 26 days) since I last used Cocaine, Heroin, Crack, Pregablin and Alcohol after 30 years in active addiction. I was a 14 year old Heroin addict and a 17 year old Crack Cocaine addict and addiction, trauma, crime, prison and causing my kids and family constant pain, worry and misery is all I’ve ever known. I thought I would die in active addiction and I have died numerous times due to overdose and wouldn’t be here today but by the grace of God I kept getting another chance to survive. I walked into ANE a broken woman with nothing left and nowhere else to turn but wanting to fight for my life like never before, I was truly broken and internally broken and I was met with open arms and love and given the opportunity to save my life. I was an addict of the very hopeless variety but today I am an addict of the very HOPEFUL variety 💖 I will be forever grateful for Addictions North East and this last 15 months in treatment. I am 1year & 29 days clean & serene from all mind altering substances! 🙌🏽 Coming to ANE gave me the chance to free myself of opioid dependent medication I have been addicted to since age 17, something I never thought I could do. Through coming to the treatment centre, I also found Narcotics Anonymous which saves me on a daily basis because I choose recovery and life and I work my program to the best of my ability, one day at a time. AA & CA have also played a big part in my recovery I am very grateful for 🙏🏽 I got good with my God and began to work a 12 step program which has been the most humble, kind & loving thing I can ever do for myself and everybody in my life 💗 I embraced God and I do so everyday because without all this I believe I would not be here today, yet today I live a blessed life on life’s terms ✌🏽🔷✨ I am a mum again to my 3 beautiful, strong, amazing children, but a mum I have never been to them, and that is a gift 💝 I am present for my family, a daughter again and a sister, and I am present everyday for my recovery and my friends and everybody around me because I care what happens to people today. My kids & family have peace of mind as do I 🥰 I have a beautiful, honest, loving relationship/friendship I have never known before with a beautiful, strong, inspiring man 💙 I have a job now in the treatment centre that saved me and I get to also help the next me and anybody I can as much as I can and I am very passionate about helping people in addiction to recovery, I am truly grateful for that along with everyone and everything that makes my recovery possible and my life worth living. We do recover ❤️🩹🙏🏽🥰 For anyone out there struggling, anything is possible, I promise you. With the right mindset and support we can do this together in unity 🫶🏽 I choose life today and I am one very grateful woman/mother/family member/partner & friend 🙏🏽 Just for today is all I have so I will make the most of it with strength, courage and wisdom and I will keep doing this on a daily, like my life depends on it because it does 💪🏽 There is so much more to life if you just believe in yourself ✨ I have met some of the strongest, humble & beautiful people on my journey and I will never forget all the help, guidance, support, encouragement & love they have given me 💗🙏🏽💛 It is available to us all ❤️ They loved me when I couldn’t love myself and continue to do so and I’m eternally grateful & blessed 💓 Keep going, one day at a time 💪🏽 Thank you from my heart Addictions North East ❤️🔥 xxx

Angela Johnson, Director of Care and Support at ANE with Kealan Cooper, Caseworker at AUK with his colleague James King, Managing Director of Addictions UK were able to share aspects of their diverse working methods dealing with complex needs being presented by their respective service users.
There was a clear consensus that sharing best practices and promoting joint working and partnerships was desirable especially within defined geographical areas and common social, economic and health needs.
EDVT, ANE and AUK all committed to continuing all efforts to work more closely together.
